Trip to San Francisco Nov. 2008 - Muir Woods and Sonona Valey

First we had to cross the world-famous GOLDEN GATE bridge to travel north thru the main valley to MUIR WOODS.

The SEQUIOA or California Redwood trees are the largest trees in the world! They grow to a height of more than 100 m (300 ft) and up to 8 m (25 ft) in width. They can live more than 2000 years! Our visit there was a unique experience!

BIG trees!

And BIG fir cones (Tannenzapfen)

A fallen giant.

Sonoma valley wine country:

Wide open countryside in this valley. They have been pressing grapes here since the Spanish came with their monasteries in the 16th century.
Two seniors resting and enjoying the chateau.

There is still a lot of space for planting vines.
A wine cellar of a Sonoma valley chateau.

Doesn't taste bad at all, but it's too hot outside to imbibe excessively.

Very beautiful exterior of a winery.
